- I don't know a lot about the inner workings of ADOS, but this seems a
- little odd.. SysInfo reports:
-
- FileSystem 32BitRAM $08000280 V10568.0
-
- The version number changes on each reboot, and Version always reports
- 40.1 (as does HDToolbox). I am using FastFileSystem on an HP C2247 (1GB)
- and a Seagate 240. I have tried reinstalling the filesystem, but this
- persists. I think it may have a lot to do with some problems I'm having
- with my system somehow related to the HD's.
-
- For instance, FinalCalc runs fine as long as I don't open any save/load
- requestors, then hangs (sometimes with an 8000 0003/4 error), BUT if I
- remove the HP and boot off of a floppy, the problem goes away.
-
- SysInfo also displays a volume called ".x" (which doesn't exist -- I have
- a WB_2.x on the Seagate and a Workbench_3.x on the HP) and when I select
- it, the machine boots (I assume FinalCalc also sees this and crashes when
- it tries to read from it). No other application shows this on any requestor.
-
- There are some other problems with my system that aren't obvious HD
- problems, but I'm wondering if they could be connected in any way... For
- instance, my Spectrum does not run in Zorro III mode, even with my new
- Buster -11 installed. (Runs fine in my 4000, so it's not the board..) I
- also have seemingly random crashes (8000 0003/4/B usually) with the common
- symptom that they tend to either trash a HD or cause the HD access light
- to come on and stay on.. Enforcer does this for instance. It does not
- crash immediately, but as soon as I click the title bar (hacked with MCP)
- or attempt to access a drive (even RAM:) the screen gets screwed up (once
- my monitor even snapped into power-saving 'green' mode) and the SCSI
- access light comes on/stays on (like with a validation error, but it's
- fine on reboot). I have been attributing these to my new GVP G-Force 040,
- but I'm beginning to suspect the SCSI bus or something.
-
- BTW, I have all the newest chips revisions, so it's not an old WD SCSI chip..
-
- I also am sure the termination is set right; I still have wierd problems
- with just the Seagate installed, and I have not changed that since C=
- installed it..
-
- Thanks for any help...
